Meet Judy & Lurline Recruitment

From Cosmetics to Food Ingredients: My Unexpected (and Best) Career Move

After many years in the creative world of cosmetics promotions, advertising, and brand, I felt ready for something different. I wanted a role that truly leveraged my organisational strengths and people skills.

Little did I know that a casual chat with a recruiter would change everything.
This recruiter was ready to leave the industry and offered me the chance to take her place at a large multinational. I thought, why not give it a go?

The recruitment industry was (and still is) broad and highly competitive. I realised early on that success meant specialising—so I carved out a niche in the Food Ingredient Industry, thanks to a tip from my son-in-law.

By the end of 2019, after years in a partnership, I knew it was time to build something of my own, surrounded by high achievers and driven by my core values. That’s how Lurline Recruitment was born in January 2020. Even with COVID looming, it turned out to be the best decision.

One of my favourite moments?
Last year, a client needed a salesperson in Melbourne. I remembered a candidate who had told me she planned to stay in her current role for 7 years, she was at year 6. I gave her a call… the timing was perfect. She got the role, and both sides were thrilled.
It’s stories like this that remind me why I love what I do.

If you're thinking about a change in career, a new job or your next move in the Food and Ingredients industry, I'd love to hear from you.
